Exposure

Exposure Electronics has been committed towards engineering real hi-fi at real world prices since 1974. Back then, the original Exposure products were born out of founder John Farlowe’s obsession for excellent reproduction of recorded music, having worked in studios with the likes of David Bowie and Pink Floyd.

VTL

Today VTL is a second generation family business still run by one of the original co-founders, who is as comfortable in the concert hall as he is at the test bench.

Originally VTL was founded upon designs that are based on recording studio prototype playback amplifiers. The forerunners to the first VTL products were originally designed in 1980 in South Africa by recording and film engineer David Manley, where the recording studio environment gave the VTL designs their heritage for sonic quality and reliability under long and arduous working conditions. Professional production for amplifiers designed for home audio use was started in Britain in 1983 to service distribution in Europe, where the designs first caught the attention of the worldwide press.

Joule Electra, based in North Augusta, South Carolina, specializes in high-performance vacuum tube electronics for audio reproduction. Marianne Barber is the Vice-President of Joule Electra and Jud Barber is the President and also the designer of all Joule Electra products. Joule Electra is praised the world over for their high quality products, exemplary craftsmanship, and commitment to bringing musical realism closer to the home.

Lector Audio

Lowest noise tube pre-amp or step-up usable with cartridge down to 1.5mV out at 5cm/sec. The fastest tube pre-amp/pow-amp faster than the fastest transistor units and without their edginess. The lowest open-loop distortion without any feedback, no feedback!

Low output impedance even at high frequencies allow driving long runs of high capacitance cable without sounding harsh and driving low input impedance amps with no sign of strain. Polypropylene capacitors are used throughout the audio circuitry and in the power supply to offer near perfect intertransient silence and the quietest space between sonic images. Precision metal film resistor are used throughout, even in place where conventional wisdom says that they aren't needed.

More than any other person, Saul Marantz defined premium home entertainment. Driven by his passion for music and his accomplishments as a classical guitarist – accomplishments that led to a close friendship with Andres Segovia – he was never satisfied with the “hi fi” equipment of his day. So he built better; first in his basement, later in a factory. His talent for industrial design and his ability to infuse talented engineers like Sidney Smith and others with his vision resulted in legendary products. The Model 7 preamplifier. The Model 8 and, soon after, the 8B power amplifier. And insured that his company would remain a premiere name in the industry he helped establish.
